Rumors about CM Punk returning to WWE are rife, and if true, they may pave the way for AJ Lee, another adored talent, to make her comeback after an absence of eight years.
Following a backstage fight with Jack Perry, CM Punk just left AEW, leaving fans to speculate about what may come next for him. Punk was fired with cause, according to Tony Khan, who cited worries about backstage security. According to Dave Meltzer, WWE may change its mind about signing CM Punk now that he is a free agent after initially expressing little interest in him during the discussions for his All Elite deal.
Beyond CM Punk, there are effects from his return to WWE. His comeback might prompt his wife, AJ Lee, to accept the Stamford-based position once more. After collaborating with Saraya (also known as Paige) and Naomi to defeat The Bella Twins and Natalya on the RAW following WrestleMania 31, Lee announced her retirement from ring action in 2015.
Following her retirement, AJ Lee explored a variety of endeavors, working behind the scenes at Women of Wrestling among them. She was no longer associated with the promotion, though, and was once again free to sign with anyone.
Now, as a free agent again, this could lead her way back to the Stamford-based promotion after eight years.
